Match: Arsenal v Southampton
Stadium: Emirates Stadium
Kick-Off (GMT): Wed 30 Nov 19:45
Arsenal play in the quarter-finals of the League Cup for the first time in four seasons tonight with Southampton the opponents at the Emirates. The Gunners got past Reading in the last round and know that a win could lead to a semi-final against one of the big teams left in the competition like Liverpool or Manchester United.
Arsene Wenger has usually deployed a mixture of youth and experience in his League Cup teams in recent years and this season’s run has been no exception. Lucas Perez got his first Arsenal goals in the competition while there have also been places for youngsters like Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
Wenger didn’t give a pre-match press conference but spoke to Arsenal.com, giving updates on the injuries to Mathieu Debuchy and Lucas Perez.

“Mathieu has a scan today [Tuesday] but we don’t have the results yet,” Wenger told the official club website.
“Lucas is in the squad and will have a mixture of youth and experience, but still 90 per cent of the first-team squad.”
So it seems that a number of first-team players will take to the field this evening. Star men like Mesut Özil and Alexis Sanchez will probably be rested but expect places for fringe players like Rob Holding and Gabriel Paulista.
