Arsene Wenger spoke to the assembled media today, revealing the team news ahead of Friday’s game against QPR at the Emirates Stadium. The team news remains mostly unchanged from last week, with several players close to returning to full fitness. Rosicky and Sanogo are reportedly fully fit, with Ospina also fit to play. The keeper has been struggling with injury ever since his transfer over the summer and hopefully will now be able to feature in a few games for the team.
This is what the manager had to say:
From Sunday I think everybody should be fit and available. We might have Rosicky back in the squad and Sanogo back in the squad. Bellerin, I don’t know yet, but certainly Rosicky and Sanogo will be available. David Ospina is available as well.
Ramsey, Arteta and Ozil are all out. The closest at the moment is Koscielny. I believe he’s a bit short for Friday, maybe has a chance for Sunday.
Arteta is progressing well. It should be very quick now. He will not play before January. Ramsey has a chance to be fit for Southampton.
He had only two days training with the team, I will see how he is this week. But fitness-wise he is not far. It is more that Theo has basically not played since January, so it has been a year.
Having Koscielny back as soon as possible will really help us; our defence seems completely at sea without the Frenchman. That being said, Ramsey and Arteta are probably the players that we need back the most right now. Without them, our midfield has been reduced to Flamini and Oxlade-Chamberlain, hardly an ideal state of affairs. However with this latest news it seems like the makeshift duo will be playing together for atleast a couple of more games. Similarly, with Ozil also out for some more time, Cazorla can look to further cement his place in the starting lineup. Wilshere of course remains on the long term injury list.
