Arsenal are struggling in the left back department, especially now with the exclusion of Kieran Gibbs who missed the flight to Munich due to an ankle injury.
Nacho Monreal remains on the sidelines, however luckily Laurent Koscielny has been passed fit meaning captain Thomas Vermaelen could fill the left back void on Tuesday night against Bayern Munich.
The Belgian played a convincing 90 minutes against Everton on Saturday and will be eager to get more game time under his belt even if it means playing out of position. Wenger does have the option of slotting in Flamini into right or left back and shifting Sagna if needed.
But Gibbs’ loss is massive, he’s a massive asset going forward and will be missed against the reigning European Champions.
Wenger revealed the following team news at his pre-match press conference:
[on the team news] We have lost Kieran Gibbs from the squad on Saturday with an ankle problem.Laurent Koscielny is back in the squad, so the only change in the squad is Koscielny for Gibbs.
