Arsene Wenger has said that the European Championships pair Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud still aren’t quite match fit. The Boss was speaking ahead of Saturday’s trip to Watford in the Premier League (via Arsenal.com).
Match: Watford v Arsenal
Stadium: Vicarage Road
Kick Off (GMT): Sat 27 Aug 15:00
The Euros final was almost two months ago but the Gunners could still be without two of its players for the trip to Watford. Mesut Ozil shined for Germany while Olivier Giroud was one of the top scorers in the tournament but the pair still aren’t ready to guarantee a starting place.
When asked whether Mesut Ozil will start at Vicarage Road, Wenger replied: “He’s not far now, it’s a decision I have to make in the next 24 hours.”
The Boss also spoke about Olivier Giroud, describing him as “Still a little fraction behind physically.”
Wenger doesn’t expect too many changes from the squad which faced Leicester last week. “We have the same squad available as last week I think it will be a similar squad.” The boss said. “Not everyone is up to speed completely, we still have players who are a little bit behind.”
