Many Arsenal players are embarking on a tough schedule that will see them play four games in the space of a week and a half, but luckily for Wenger there were no fresh injuries after the international break.
News that captain Robin Van Persie had sat out part of Holland’s training ahead of their friendly with England sent tremors through Gooners worldwide, however he was deemed fit and played the first half and escaped with setback to his troublesome groin.
Arsène Wenger revealed the latest team news ahead of Saturday’s trip to Liverpool:
on the situation after the internationals:
So far it is OK, we have no injuries from Wednesday night. Everybody looks alright.
on Van Persie coming off at half time:
It was planned by his manager because he knows we have a tough schedule. We are the only team in the world who plays Sunday, Wednesday, Saturday, Tuesday.

on Aaron Ramsey (ankle):
It is too early for him, he has no chance for the weekend. He will be out for Milan as well.
on Johan Djourou (thigh):
He is not far. He could be OK for Milan maybe.
on Andre Santos (ankle):
He is doing good, he is not far as well – two weeks away from returning to the group. It is a bit ahead of time and he works with a fantastic attitude. He is unbelievably focused, motivated every day and he is a credit to himself. It is a joy to see how hard he works and sets himself targets. In two weeks we will assess how well he is doing in training.
on Francis Coquelin (hamstring):
He is four weeks away
This is extremely good news that Van Persie is recovered and didn’t receive any knocks, and it is a bit of a blessing that Ramsey is injured I must say because Rosicky has been a far better performer in recent weeks.
Santos will be a welcomed addition to the squad with Gibbs due for his customary injury soon, however I certainly don’t wish it upon the Englishman as I would love to see him push ahead of the unreliable Santos, but the Brazilian’s attacking prowess can’t be denied.
Who would you pick for this Saturday’s fixture against Liverpool? The defence is a pretty much a given, the wings are certainly the tough choice with Gervinho, Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain fighting for a place. Our pick has to be Gervinho & The Ox.
