Finally Arsenal’s injury woes are nearing an end (for now) with Wenger boosted by a range of options as a host of first team players return to the squad.
Andre Santos may make his long awaited return to the field against Newcastle on Monday after recovering from his ankle injury that kept the Brazilian out for over three months. Although Diaby is set to miss out, Arteta and Ramsey will be back and competing for places reinforcing the squad substantially.
Arsène Wenger revealed the following team news ahead of the next home fixture against Newcastle:
on Andre Santos:
Santos is available if he is needed on Monday night to be in the squad. He has been out three months. We played for two months without full backs so we are pleased that we have them back.
on Benayoun and Diaby:
Diaby will not be available for Monday but Benayoun, if all goes well, could be available to join in training on Sunday.

on players returning for Newcastle game:
From Tuesday night we did not lose anybody and we certainly have Arteta and Ramsey back in the squad. That’s the news we have at the moment.
on Jack Wilshere:
Jack had a scan today. When I walked out to the training session at 11am we still had no information about it. The progress in training is very good but what you do not want is to have any setbacks. The clinical signs are all very good when you look at his ankle, it is not inflamed and it is normal progress now.
The signs are positive for Wilshere’s recovery which is encouraging for Wenger who would love to have the energetic Englishman at his disposal. Although Ramsey is fit there is absolutely no way that he should start with Rosicky playing out of his skin at the moment.
The Czech has been a man possessed in the last few games setting up goals and scoring himself. His creativity has been a much needed ingredient that the Gunners have been lacking, Ramsey hasn’t been at his best and just hasn’t produced the final product like Rosicky has managed too.
Wenger has some tough team selections coming up, especially out wide with Oxlade-Chamberlain playing phenomenally against Milan and Gervinho and Walcott fighting for a spot. It will also be interesting to see who he prefers at leftback with Gibbs stringing a series of successful performances together but with Santos re-entering the frame there will be some competition for the left-footed duo.
