A spot of good and bad news ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League tie with Southampton on Tuesday evening as Jack Wilshere is a big doubt after sustaining a knock against Coventry City on Friday, however Mikel Arteta and Thomas Vermaelen are back in contention after their respective returns to fitness.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain made his first start since his injury in the FA Cup playing in a central role and Wenger has admitted he may start him once again against his former club this week.
Arteta, Ramsey and Vermaelen have all been missing for some weeks now and will be included into the squad after the Arsenal boss revealed they have returned to fitness.
Wenger revealed the following team news at his pre-match press conference:
[on the team news for Tuesday] We have a doubt about Jack Wilshere, who had an ankle problem during the game against Coventry.
[on players returning] We have three players back normally in the squad – Vermaelen, Arteta and Ramsey should be back and available but we might from our last game lose Jack for tomorrow’s game.

[on Oxlade-Chamberlain starting] He’s fitter, still not at 100 per cent. That decision has not been made yet, he might start, I don’t know yet. But he’s getting closer.
[On Arteta and Ramsey starting] They’ve just come back today to full training after three weeks out, its very short.
