According to The Daily Mail, Jack Wilshere is set to make his return to full training at the end of January, and injured defenders Bacary Sagna and Thomas Vermaelen are set to return to action this weekend.
The Gunner’s England international has missed the whole season so far with an ankle injury he aggravated in the pre-season Emirates Cup tournament. The Gunners medical team hope to have the Wilshere ready to join in training late this month or early February, with the tie against Blackburn on February 4 or Sunderland seven days later marked as potential comeback fixtures.
The Arsenal medical team have been cautious over their approach with the central midfielder’s fitness, and will only allow him to return when they are 100% convinced that he is all clear and injury-free, the last thing Wenger needs is a setback in the Englishman’s recovery.
Meanwhile, Vermaelen and Sagna have been tipped for Premier League comebacks this weekend in time for the blockbuster tie against Manchester United at the Emirates. Arsenal’s recent blip in form has been marked with many defensive errors, and the experienced duo will tighten up the Gunners lineup sufficiently enough for them to provide real pressure on the second placed Manchester side.
