Olivier Giroud has certainly had an eventful week with two memorable goals in two days, that have made him the hottest striker on the continent.
The France international scored a sensational scorpion kick against Crystal Palace on Monday in a 2-0 win and followed it up with a last-gasp equaliser in the 3-3 draw with Bournemouth on Wednesday.
The goals take Giroud’s tally to eight for the season, which may be half what Alexis Sanchez has managed, but the striker possesses a far superior scoring rate.
According to Opta, Giroud has been involved in a goal every 49 minutes, this season, the best record in the top five leagues in Europe.

The Arsenal man is ahead of Monaco stars Gabriel Boschilia and Radamel Falcao who have both enjoyed superb seasons, propelling the Ligue 1 side to second place in the table.

Giroud’s goals this season have also come at vital times, helping the Gunners avoid defeat against both Bournemouth and Manchester United as well as netting a late winner against West Brom.
Manager Arsene Wenger admitted yesterday that Giroud has proven a hugely important player this season despite a reduced role, having been forced to watch Sanchez impress in a central role.
However, Giroud’s form makes him difficult to drop right now and with games against Preston, Swansea, Burnley and Watford to come he will be expected to add to his tally.
