It’s not going unnoticed that we are in fantastic form at the moment, and it’s currently just goal difference that is keeping us from top spot. Arsenal legend Thierry Henry claims consistency is the key to our success, with Mesut Özil’s continued good form the driving force behind our recent victories, as reported by Sky Sports.
The German has unquestionably been showing some of his best form yet in an Arsenal shirt, and has been instrumental in our success so far this season. But the team as a whole are really clicking at the moment, and when we have our best XI out there are few that can stand in our way – our 2-0 win over Bayern Munich proved that much.
Henry was clearly pleased that Özil is finally starting to show some consistency, and suggested it was the talented playmaker that took us top of the table (speaking following our win over Everton before the Manchester Derby on Sunday).
“It’s OK having the confidence of the manager, who tells you you can do it and backs you up in the press, but at some point the players have to go out there and perform and that’s what they’re doing,” he said.
“You can finally see Mesut Özil being more consistent in games. Ultimately that’s why Arsenal are top of the table – the players you need to drive the team forward are doing it at the moment.”
Özil is arguably the best and most creative No.10 in football at the moment, and the sheer number of assists he’s racked up is thoroughly impressive. He’s looked excellent in the majority of our matches so far this season, and will hopefully continue in that vein throughout the campaign.

A number of fans and pundits are finally starting to see the quality he possesses, and have – to some extent – stopped the incessant criticism. Somehow there are still a huge number of doubters out there though, so Özil may have to continue to impress if he wants to win them all over.
