There is no denying what Santi Cazorla brings to the table for Arsenal. He is a classy midfielder with excellent technique, ambidextrous, and most important, works hard for the team. His free kick against Hull City in the FA cup final changed the whole complexion of the game. Without his goal, it threatened to turn out to be a day best forgotten by Arsenal fans. However, knowing what was at stake, Cazorla chose to step up to the plate and be counted. That is the sign of a great player.
However, it is the right time to sell Santi Cazorla. He just turned 30 years, is playing wonderful football at the club and for that reason, Arsenal can still get a decent sum for him. This is no time for sentimentality. There are too many players younger than him who are just as talented with Tomas Rosicky bringing the experience that might be lacking. Rosicky is too old to be sold but is still turning outstanding performances that belie his age.
Don’t get me wrong, we would not be tossing Cazorla aside with so much as a thank you. His great service has given him an FA cup medal meaning he can walk away with his head held high while still been in demand from teams like Atletico Madrid.
The truth is, it is time for Arsenal’s young, talented, attacking players to start living up to their potential and shake off the tag, young guns. Wayne Rooney, after arriving at Manchester United immediately began to justify his price tag while Messi and Ronaldo have over the years proved they were worth every cent. The simple fact is either players like Ramsey, Wilshere, Walcott, and AOC need to return Arsenal to its former glory, period! No excuses! Either they are good enough or they are not.
If they are not, then it is time to bring in young players who will help us achieve success. Wenger has already started to do this by bring in world class players Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil. Cazorla needs to be sold to usher in a new era at Arsenal.
