One of the major disappointments of the recently concluded campaign was that Arsenal were never really in the title race. They fell 12 points behind Chelsea by November and from then they never really had a chance. The start to the season was quite simply abysmal, but things ended in optimistic fashion and boosted hopes for the upcoming season.
Here are three reasons why I believe Arsenal will win the title next season.
Winning Mentality
It’s always the first trophy that’s the hardest to win. Last year Arsenal infamously went two goals down to Hull City before winning 3-2 in extra time in the FA Cup final. It wasn’t that Arsenal found it tough to beat Hull, in fact they comfortably dispatched Hull 2-0 at the Emirates and 0-3 at the K.C. Stadium in the League. It was just the occasion and the incredible pressure of not having won a trophy for 9 years that caused Arsenal to make such a disastrous start.
Fast forward a year, and Arsenal steamrolled a better side – Aston Villa – 4-0 in one of the most comfortable FA Cup victories in recent memory. Arsenal now have that all important know-how and experience to handle a high pressure situation. Success breeds success, we have now won two trophies on the bounce, and the players will be itching to get more. The Premier League should be the target, and we are more than capable of winning the title, never mind challenging for it.
