William Carvalho has been constantly linked with a move to the Premier League in recent seasons, and has dropped a major hint that Arsenal is the club he’d most like to join, as reported by the Express.
He claims that his love for Arsenal stems from his admiration for one man, club legend Thierry Henry.
The 23-year-old has attracted a huge amount of attention with his performances for Sporting Lisbon, and looks to be one of the most promising young defensive midfielders in the game.
“I prefer not to say, but there is a club with which I’ve always empathised – Arsenal,” he said (via Portuguese newspaper A Bola).
“Because of a player who was I very fond of, in this case I wear the number of him: Thierry Henry, a player with whom I always empathised too.
“Maybe this is why I look with more attention to the Premier League.”

Francis Coquelin is obviously doing a superb job at the base of midfield, but we can’t expect him to do it alone. We are seriously lacking depth in that department, and a young understudy to the Frenchman could be exactly what we need.
Carvalho has a bright future ahead of him, and Arsenal could be the perfect place for him to hone his skills. His ball playing skills are surprisingly good considering he is primarily a defensive midfielder or a centre-back, which makes him seem the ideal player for us.

The player would clearly love a move to the Emirates, so it just seems to be a matter of whether Arsene Wenger views him as a player who would improve our current side.
