Arsenal could be set to hijack Manchester United’s move for Morgan Schneiderlin after the Red Devils turned their attention to Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger, El Confidencial’s Kike Marin hinted.

According to Bild, Manchester United have concluded a deal to sign the World Cup winner which has raised further questions regarding a potential move for Schneiderlin.
Southampton boss Ronald Koeman confirmed earlier this week that after rejecting one offer a fortnight ago, Manchester United hadn’t returned with an improved bid.

“There’s a lot of speculation, but two weeks ago we had a Manchester United bid. It wasn’t enough, wasn’t serious, and there have been no more bids,” Koeman revealed (via Sky Sports).

However, Kike Marin hinted that with Man United focussing their efforts on concluding a deal for Schweinsteiger, we have emerged as favourites to land the Frenchman.
It was understood, as The Telegraph suggested, that Wenger was happy with his midfield options with the rise of Francis Coquelin, coupled with Mikel Arteta’s contract extension, ending any interest in another midfielder.
Despite the depth we have in that position, we lack Premier League quality and in the event that Coquelin suffers an injury, we would be in an avoidable predicament.
A deal for Schneiderlin would be one of the last pieces in the jigsaw.
