Lucas Torreira has revealed his thoughts on his Arsenal teammate and midfield partner, Granit Xhaka (via The Standard).
It’s fair to say that Lucas Torreira has quickly become an almost universally liked player amongst Arsenal fans but the same cannot be said about his midfield partner, Granit Xhaka.
The Swiss international has divided supporters and pundits in his first few seasons at the Emirates and now, Torreira personally has been asked about him.
“Granit is a player that I link up a lot with in the midfield and he covers a lot of ground on the pitch,” Torreira told The Standard.
“He occupies space really well and is important to the defensive balance of the team, which the manager knows. He’s an outlet for the first pass from defence and frustrates the opposition’s attackers.
When he’s playing well, the team are going to win games. We’re gaining points and me and him are playing minutes together and gaining experience together, which is important.”

Lucas Torreira is proving to be the perfect partner for Granit Xhaka in the centre of Arsenal’s midfield. The pair complements each other extremely well and they will hopefully showcase that once again on Saturday.
