The news that Spurs are eyeing Monaco midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia shouldn’t come as a surprise to Arsenal with reports suggesting that Mauricio Pochettino wants to challenge us for the Frenchman, the Daily Mail reports.
It seems as though, for the past decade, Spurs have consistently targeted the players who have been linked with us in the press. The list of names are endless.
The likes of Etienne Capoue (via the Express), Jan Vertonghen (via Sky Sports) and Lewis Holtby (via the Daily Mail) were all players heavily linked with us before ending up down the Seven Sisters Road.

Even players who we’ve been rumoured to chasing, such as Paris Saint Germain’s Adrian Rabiot, almost ended up joining Spurs in January (via the Metro).
With their reported interest in Kondogbia, a formula of chasing our rumoured targets hasn’t worked for them in the past and one would think that Daniel Levy would’ve learnt by now.

The Monaco man is of a different calibre to their current midfield options and would certainly want Champions League football to further his career.
That immediately gives us an advantage, but it remains doubtful whether Arsene Wenger would be willing to shell out the reported price for a player who may have to deputise for Francis Coquelin.
An interesting summer certainly awaits.
