The goalkeeping position is a hugely interesting one at Arsenal this summer. Petr Cech is the obvious first choice but behind him, there is David Ospina, Emi Martinez and of course, the returning Wojciech Szczesny.
Szczesny is close to the exit door and it seems likely that Ospina will join him leaving just Emi Martinez as Cech’s backup.
The Argentinean impressed during his brief run in the team last season but there are still question marks over whether the 24-year-old can be Arsenal’s number one long term.
One player who could be just that is Alban Lafont. The French stopper burst onto the scene two seasons ago when he became Toulouse’s number one goalkeeper at the age of just 16.
Now 18, Lafont has over 60 first-team appearances to his name already and has reportedly attracted the interest of Arsene Wenger.

However, Toulouse manager Pascal Dupraz defused the situation in a recent interview when asked about his young goalkeeper. “Lafont? He won’t be leaving.”
Arsenal will undoubtedly have to sign a new goalkeeper in the next couple of years but for the time being, it’s not a pressing issue. Maybe Alban Lafont will be that man but it’s best for both the player and the two clubs if he remains in Toulouse for the next season at least.
