Recently there have been unsubstantiated reports linking the shot-stopper with a move to Emirates, although many Gooners rightly dismissed the claims.
Cech is quoted as saying by Sky Sport News:
It is an interesting piece of news but it is such speculation that I think it’s not even necessary to comment on it.
I know of nothing, nobody has contacted me and, to be honest, I can’t even imagine it.
I don’t even normally notice such rumours. But when it does get to me, I naturally look at it to know what to say about it later.
There are players who do read newspapers. Some players read match reports to know what was written about them and where.
- Arsenal told ‘no less than £50m’ for top defensive transfer target
- Arsenal keen to sign 16th best ranked Premier League stopper
- Arsenal keeping tabs on €40m Italy star after ‘outstanding’ season
I don’t do this, I don’t read newspapers because of such things. I don’t take rumours like this seriously.
While the statement of Cech is hardly a surprise, reports surrounding Arsene Wenger’s want to find a new goalkeeper have certainly been gathering steam as of late.
In saying this however, the Daily Mail and Mirror seem to have gone trigger happy with the trend linking every keeper they can think of to the Emirates.
Out of the crop of players linked, Begovic would be the most ideal candidate although other big clubs obviously have him under the microscope as well. Swansea’s shot-stopper Michel Vorm comes in a close second.
What do you guys think? Arsenal are definitely likely to recruit a new goalkeeper if Fabianski remains on the way out so who would you like to see at the Emirates that is a realistic choice? Feel free to leave a comment below!
