He has reportedly gained the interest of clubs such as Arsenal, Tottenham, QPR and Zenit, but has himself stated that he will stay until the end of season provided an offer doesn’t satisfy all parties.
M’Vila has been heavily linked with Arsenal for a while now, but no move has eventuated for the defensive midfielder with his off-field antics proving to be a deterrent for his potential employers.
Rennes’ General Manager Pierre Dreossi is quoted as saying by Sky Sport News:
Yes, he feels like leaving.
But it is not a priority for us to sell. If he has to leave, he will leave. But if it is not worth it for him or for us, he will stay until the end of the season.
It is all moving towards England or Russia.
M’Vila is quoted as saying by Sky Sport News:
The club have received offers.
- Juventus to make swoop for Arsenal summer transfer target in January
- Man City loss proves club are Champions League ready claims Arsenal star
- Arsenal boss Arteta takes ‘hands on approach’ with £27m-star’s new club
I want to go but the deal has to be right for everyone. If it isn’t, I will stay until the end of the season.
It is still hard to understand why no club has decided to snap the Frenchman up, particularly considering Rennes are likely to sell him for a cut-price given his contract situation.
While Arteta has performed admirably in the defensive midfield position, it is quite clear that Arsenal are needing a pure defensive midfielder as a like-for-like replacement for the recently departed Alex Song.
Yes, he would be a risk to sign, but we have certainly seen risky signings with the likes of Squillaci, Santos and Gervinho who have certainly not lived up expectation.
