David Ospina could be on his way out of Arsenal this January, with Turkish side Besiktas looking to lure him away from the Emirates on loan, according to Turkish publication AMK.
The Colombian has struggled for game time since being displaced by summer signing Petr Cech, and when he has been given a chance he has been less than impressive. He was largely to blame for our early defeats in the Champions League, and there was fury from the fans when Arsene Wenger continued to show faith in the out of form shot-stopper.
Reports earlier this season suggested Ospina had a verbal agreement with Wenger that he would be handed plenty of game time this season, despite the arrival of the former Chelsea keeper (via the Metro). His poor performances saw him dropped though, and AMK suggest he is now looking at an Emirates exit in January.
It doesn’t look as though Ospina has a long-term future at the club, so it seems bizarre that Wenger would opt to loan him out this winter. If the manager is looking to get the 27-year-old off the books then he seems more likely to sell him outright, especially with Wojciech Szczesny also currently out on loan.
Many Arsenal fans would prefer to see the Pole deputising to Cech rather than Ospina, although after he was caught smoking again (via the Mirror) while on his loan spell with Roma that may not be possible.

Ospina enjoyed a superb start to 2015 after forcing Szczesny out of the side, and had a solid defensive record throughout the campaign. His stock has plummeted this season however, and he looks totally incapable of doing a job for Arsenal any longer. An early exit in January wouldn’t be the worst idea, but we need to make sure we have adequate backup, with Matt Macey currently our only real option.
