In the last couple of years, Arsenal have always been jinxed when it came to the last 16 of the Champions League which was characterized by draws against the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
This season however we were lucky to land French side AS Monaco and for a while it had us believing that this could just be our year.
So much for that belief as the Gunners suffered an unbelievable 3-1 loss to Monaco on Wednesday night at the Emirates.
Geoffrey Kondogbia’s deflected shot gave the Ligue I side the lead in the 38th minute before Dimitar Berbatov added a second right at the start of the second half.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain pulled one back for the home team but all our hopes were drowned when Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco scored for Monaco in injury time to finish the game at 3-1.

We never have and probably never will make it easy for ourselves. I don't know why we should be surprised. Goodnight everyone. #COYG

Wenger seemed more disappointed than angry post match. Described defending as "suicidal" and said they played with hearts rather than brains
