The game yesterday, while maybe not our worst performance of the season, clearly highlighted the weaknesses in our side. We were completely outplayed in the first half and improved only marginally in the second. Our lack of possession was also crippling especially since our defence was regularly overrun by the Liverpool forwards. Even then, we found ourselves in the lead and could have secured all three points but for a late defensive blunder from a corner which allowed the 10 man Liverpool to equalize.
Fans and pundits alike criticized the performance, but most just seemed resigned to the fact. Stand in captain Per Mertesacker was however singled out for criticism after appearing to move out of the way during the corner that Liverpool scored. Here are some tweets about yesterday’s game.
Arsenal's got 99 problems, and every one of them is a minute.

27 – Arsenal today faced more shots than they have in any other Premier League game (Aug 2003-present). Bombarded.

In isolation we have plenty of quite good players. And yet I find this one of the hardest to like Arsenal sides in years.

We had 5 defenders on the pitch. Against 10 men. And we still concede from a set piece. Embarrassing

Worst part of today for me is my 'meh' reaction to it all. I know the deal. Why lose it? Arsenal are not a surprise.

Arsenal have dropped 11 points from winning positions in the Premier League this season. They only dropped 9 in the whole of 2013-14

Arsenal don't need one centre back in Jan. They need 2. Mertesacker is charming, funny & self aware. But he looks completely shot.

There's no defending Mertesacker at this point.

That snap of Mertesacker 'defending' that corner is gonna haunt him for months
