Arsenal welcomed Spurs for the first North London Derby of the season with the hopes of going top of the league. However, with no goals by the Gunners and Spurs scoring a goal on each end led to yet another splitting of points.
The game started with Spurs domination however, Ozil’s alluring free-kick caught Kevin Wimmer’s header which directed the ball into the net. An own goal by the visitors meant a perfect start to the derby, however, a win was not meant to be for Arsenal.
Harry Kane marked his return from injury by scoring a penalty right at the beginning of the second half cancelling out any hopes for Arsene Wenger’s men leading the league.
The game ended on 1-1 with Spurs denied by woodwork and a header by Olivier Giroud blocked by Hugo Lloris as both the teams took peace in sharing a point apiece.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to the scenes that unfolded at the North London Derby.
An own goal by Wimmer handed Arsenal the lead and the Gunners couldn’t resist the humour in it.

Ozil’s crosses are so delicate and inviting that even opposition players want to nod them into the net. He really is a magician. #ARSTOT

Arsenal fans got a further chance to elaborate on the loyalty and the unity within the team when Walcott was defended by Granit Xhaka and Mesut Ozil against a fuming Vertonghen.
Vertonghen squares off against Walcott and Mesut Ozil goes over and pushes him away. Seems a different person to when he joined. #ARSTOT

It was all going well until Spurs got back into the game with a penalty scored by Kane right at the beginning of the second half. Perhaps the Gunners spoke too soon.
1-1 Kane knocks in the penalty. Poor start to the second half. #ARSTOT

It stayed 1-1 till FT and the fans had mixed reactions as Arsenal missed the chance to go top of the league.
Worst game of the season. Even worse than that 3-4 defeat against LFC. #ARSTOT Hoping for a liverpool blunder. Chelsea looking strong.
