It was an all too familiar story for Arsenal fans. As has happened so many times before, Wenger seemed completely lost against Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea. The veteran Frenchman seems unable to get one over the Portuguese manager, and became so frustrated today that he actually lost his cool and pushed his opposite number.
It turned out to be a bad decision. Not only will he probably be penalised for that, within a few minutes Chelsea had won a penalty courtesy Eden Hazard, which he then converted to give the Blue the lead, and the home team coasted to a comfortable win with a scoreline of 2-0 in a match where Arsenal were unable to even get a shot on target.
Fans took to Twitter to express their frustrations about Wenger and their reactions to the push on Mourinho. Here are some of the best tweets from the game.
Some fans just chose to criticise Wenger:
Im starting to get that Andy Reid feeling with Wenger…..love what he's done for the club but its gotten stale….same tactics over & over

Even on a day like this, I've tried being respectful & I have said nothing against him, but now is the time for Wenger to step down.Just go.

Wenger's stubbornness will keep costing us, I'm just over his constant mistakes… He never learns and never will.

Other Arsenal fans focused on the shoving incident itself:
Arsenals brightest spark came from Wenger on the touchline.

No hand shake
2-0. Should have been down to at least 9. And 0 shots on goal. Wenger realizes he's the specialist in failure gets flustered and has a shove

12 games between Wenger and Mourinho and the only thing Wenger managed to get out of it was a push .
— Ali Kaakour (@Kaakour) October 5, 2014
That push was probably just Wenger trying to get himself sent off so he didn't have to watch. He failed.

We've beaten Wenger on his 500th and 1000th game. Now we beat him on his 18th year anniversary. We didn't mean to. #CFC

Mourinho should've milked that push from Wenger and dived.
— Sean Wilson (@SimplySean_) October 5, 2014
Some Gooners still tried to look on the positive side (what little there was):
Day made. Thanks Wenger. If only that push had just killed Jose.
