Two Spanish clubs are said to be battling to sign Arsenal’s Nacho Monreal in the summer transfer window (via Sport Witness).
Arsenal already need to sign at least three players in the summer transfer window and that’s before considering any of the outgoing sales.
A winger, a centre-back, and a central midfielder are on the club’s shopping list for the summer but it seems as if they may need to add a left-back to that.
Reports in Spain suggest that two La Liga clubs are in the market for a left-back and that both sides consider Arsenal’s Nacho Monreal as a potential signing.
The 33-year-old has been at the club for six years, making over 220 appearances in that time but is said to have just a few months left on his contract.

Now, the Spanish site El Gol Digital has claimed that both Real Sociedad and Real Betis are in the market for a left-back and that both clubs view Monreal and FC Barcelona’s Juan Miranda as targets.
The article suggests that the clubs have come to some sort of understanding with Betis set to pursue Miranda and Sociedad the favourites to sign Nacho Monreal.
It’s an interesting story and one which could well happen. Nacho Monreal has long been linked with a return to Spain and this seems like a good opportunity. However, the 33-year-old has performed well of late which suggests that he could yet have another season at Arsenal if the club elects to renew his deal.
