Unai Emery has spoken about the reports linking FC Barcelona forward Denis Suarez with a January move to Arsenal (via Arsenal.com).
It’s a transfer which seems to make a great deal of sense for everyone concerned.
Denis Suarez is out of favour at FC Barcelona and is the sort of player Arsenal currently need. It helps that the Gunners’ head coach used to manage the player at Sevilla.
With that in mind, a potential loan deal has been touted and over the weekend, Unai Emery was asked whether he thought a transfer was likely.
“I don’t know,” he confessed.
“I think the club is working for the possibility to bring in some players who can help us during this next four months of competition. It’s a different situation.

“If the transfer market can help us find a centre back, the possibility to bring them in is not easy because we also have Mavropanos coming back from injury. If we have the possibility to sign some important players, we can do it.
“At left or right wing, perhaps one player can help us in this position. We will only sign players who give us quality.”
When asked what sort of position he would expect Suarez to play in, Emery replied that “he was playing as a left or right winger for Sevilla when he was with me.”
It’s an interesting story and it could prove to be a smart transfer for Arsenal. Denis Suarez is a talented player and possesses many of the traits currently lacking in attack for the Gunners.
