From being dangerously close to signing no striker this summer, Arsenal have recruited one and could pry another from an English Premier League rival. With Arsene Wenger confirming the signing of Lucas Perez from Deportivo La Coruna, reports are now linking Daniel Sturridge with an Emirates Stadium switch.
This is according to Caught Offside, who claim that the English forward is “unhappy” at Liverpool and is seeking a route out after falling down the pecking order. The likes of Divock Origi, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane all appear to be favored over the Three Lions attacker by manager Jurgen Klopp.
The former Chelsea ace, once a key member of the Reds’ SSS -Sturridge, Suarez, Sterling -attack from a few seasons back, has only made one start from the first three games of this season. Injuries limited his contribution last term to only 14 appearances, with three of those coming as a substitute.
The Caught Offside report claims that Sturridge is confident of a Gunners move; however, it’s unlikely that Le Prof will add the 26-year-old to his squad before the summer transfer window shuts close.
Although Sturridge knows the English game and would need little to no time to hit the ground running, Wenger revealed after the 3-1 win over Watford that the club have all but signed Lucas Perez. The Spaniard will join the likes of Olivier Giroud, Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott and a recovering Danny Welbeck in Arsenal’s attacking line.
Alexis proved on Saturday that he can perform exceptionally well in the lone-striker role, scoring one and assisting two in their first victory of the season, which means there is no alarming reason for the north London outfit to sign a new striker.

Furthermore, although Sturridge is a quality striker, injuries have gotten the best of him over the past few seasons. Since making 29 appearances and scoring 23 goals in 13/14, the Englishman has featured in only 28 matches out of a possible 79 in the Premier League.
Lastly, would Arsenal fans be able to stand his goal celebration dance only a weekly basis? Maybe not.
