According to his agent, promising Mexican striker Carlos Vela has been told that he will not be shown the exit this summer.
With a mediocre loan-spell in the second half of the season at West Brom, where he only managed to score two goals in eight games, the pacy forward was expected to be free to leave along with a number of Arsenals other fringe players.
Although with a disappointing stint with the baggies, Vela’s agent Eduardo Hernandez insists that he is still a major part of Wengers plans saying: “I have had eight conversations with Arsenal, the most recent was last Friday, and Carlos is an Arsenal player, he will stay at Arsenal and is not for sale.
“The process with Carlos is a little bit slow.
“Arsene Wenger is an extremely demanding coach, he sent him on loan for six months to West Brom not with the results he wanted, but, nevertheless, everything is going very well.”
Even with a disappointing stint with West Brom, it can still be said that Vela still possesses great potential. There have been a few of times Vela has made cameo appearances for the gunners and finished in style with a goal against Bolton in the Premier League and a brace against Braga in the Champions League where he showed exceptional touch. What do you think? Does he have what it takes to break into the Arsenal starting XI or is he yet another Bendtner, Almunia or Denilson in the waiting?
