Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes has effectively put the nail in the coffin over the Cesc Fabregas saga, publicly saying that the Fabregas deal should be announced within the next few hours.
Fabregas has long been linked with his home club and finally after some squabbles between Arsenal and Barca over his price tag, it is reported that an agreed fee of around £35m will be finalised soon.
At a conference he said: “I think we have good news, talks are very advanced. I cannot imagine Barca next season without Cesc. It is close. In a few hours they will announce his signing.”
To further back-up this claim fellow player Gerard Pique tweeted: “‘Today is gonna be a great day!!” as well as Barca skipper Purol tweeting: “Welcome home!!! Happy to have you here.”
Furthermore the Sun has stated that the trasnfer has been completed, although reports to officially confirm the move have yet to surface.
While it will be sad to see him go, I am quite glad the whole Fabregas saga is finally going to be over. £35m is a lot of money to play with and hopefully Wenger can attract a top-class player who is passionate about the club and can also play close to or above Cesc’s ability.

While it is good the saga is over, with the start of the Premier League season imminent it is not ideal that we haven’t found a replacement who has been able to gel with the squad in pre-season. All I can say is that I am hopeful that Mata talks re-ignite!
