Jamie Vardy looks very likely to complete the switch to Arsenal soon, with Arsene Wenger moving to activate the England international’s release clause. The Leicester City star is set to undergo a medical on Sunday afternoon before heading out for the Euro 2016 Championships, with Wenger looking to get his business done early, according to Goal.

As the report suggests, we’ve activated Vardy’s £20m release clause and are now in talks with the 29-year-old. Wenger is hoping to secure his services before the Euros this summer, organising the medical as soon as he possibly could.
Goal also reveal that the bid has been confirmed by Claudio Ranieri, suggesting that bar a failure to agree personal terms, Vardy’s Arsenal switch is on the verge of completion.
While everyone knows we need a striker this summer, the move for Vardy has still proved to be a bit of a surprise. The England international doesn’t scream Arsenal, and there are question marks over whether he’s really suited to our style of play. Wenger isn’t exactly known for adapting his style, so a number of Arsenal fans are wondering where Vardy will fit in.
He’s most certainly had a fantastic season with the Foxes though, and if he can bring even close to the 24 league goals he scored this past season to Arsenal then he’ll prove a phenomenal signing – assuming the deal goes through.

There are obviously many who are referencing the fact that Vardy has so far been nothing more than a one season wonder, but as stated if he can reproduce that form it would be a superb purchase. He’s very different to anything we’ve got in the squad at the moment, and hopefully if we do secure his signature he isn’t the last signing this summer.
