The Mexican forward was never really able to fulfil his potential in Arsenal colours, but seems to have found his feet in La Liga scoring 12 times this term for Sociedad.
Amidst his good run of form, reports are surfacing that Arsenal are pondering activating a buy-back clause in Vela’s contract, although the Mexican would prefer to stay in Spain.
Vela is quoted as saying by The Daily Mail:
Arsenal are a big team who gave me the opportunity to play in Europe. I will always remember that, but I didn’t have the opportunities that I felt I deserved.
I am very happy here [at Real Sociedad] and would like to stay here.
It was certainly a case of unfulfilled potential with Vela. He certainly looked the part when he was given the time to play, but was often overlooked by Wenger.
Vela possessed great movement and speed, but his stand out attribute was his ability to finish. Some say it was a good move to let him leave, but I would hands down preferred him over the likes of Chamakh, Bendtner and even Walcott in terms of a strikers role.

Arsenal however need a world class striker and if we are to land the likes of Stevan Jovetic, I can’t see Vela coming back as a squad player despite the huge impact he could make as an impact player.
