Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Özil were the two shining lights in our disappointing draw with Norwich, but the Chilean unfortunately limped off injured before the end.
It may well be unrelated to the injury, but Norwich City’s Ryan Bennett seemed intent on injuring the Arsenal star, and maliciously pushed him into the cameraman’s pit after the ball had gone out for a throw in.
Bennett can be seen below shoving Alexis in the back, with the 26-year-old falling head first into the pit and taking a real knock:
How Bennett wasn’t punished is a mystery, and it’s something that referees really need to clamp down on. These kinds of incidents can cause real damage, as evidenced by Marko Arnautovic’s push on Mathieu Debuchy last season, a push which dislocated the Frenchman’s shoulder and put him out of action for months.
Whether the push contributed or not, Alexis Sanchez’s injury is a real blow for us. It’s unclear how long he’ll be out for, but even the odd game without him is not what we need.

Arsenal transfer news
The tireless forward’s industriousness could have been a real boost for us in the latter stages of the game, with his work-rate potentially helping us secure the winning goal. Instead we were left reeling from the news of his injury, and looked more likely to concede than score.
Hopefully Alexis isn’t out for too long and the injury wasn’t as bad as it looked.
