Arsene Wenger handed a debut to Jeff Reine-Adelaide in our 6-0 thrashing of Lyon as the 17-year-old produced an exciting cameo to confirm the boss’ faith in him.
Adelaide arrived from RC Lens last summer and his immediate involvement with the first team indicates how highly he’s rated by the club’s staff.
Thr 17-year-old replaced Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and despite starting out on the right, he eventually drifted inside and produced some sensational skills.
Wenger has previously indicated that he’ll use Adelaide as a wide player initially, but that he’ll eventually become a complete midfielder player and, on this evidence, the boss is spot on.
“He’s an offensive player, but he can develop into an all-round midfielder as well. At the moment, he plays on the right or left but I think he can develop as a central midfielder as well,” Wenger told Arsenal Player earlier this month.
