On this day, 20 years ago, something quite remarkable happened. After a few years of limbo and changes at managerial levels, the Arsenal board pulled off arguably our best ever signing to land a certain Dutchman from Inter Milan.
Dennis Bergkamp is highly regarded as our best ever player and his status symbolises what our club has transformed into over the past two decades.
It seemed fitting too, that a year before the arrival of our greatest ever manager who would revolutionise the playing style and diets of English football, a player who shared his vision was already present in the squad.
Bergkamp and Wenger were an arranged marriage waiting to happen and together they’ve brought joy to millions worldwide.

5) Dennis Bergkamp vs Bayer Leverkusen
Due to his phobia of travelling, seeing Bergkamp play in the Champions League was both rare and equally delightful. The magician saved his refreshing goals for the Highbury faithful.
On this occasion, Bergkamp rounded off a sensational display against German side Leverkusen and made a complete mockery of their defence before his trademark chip over the goalkeeper from the edge of the box.
