We clinched our first ‘trophy’ of the season this past Saturday, with our 3-1 win over Everton seeing us lift the Barclays Asia trophy.
It’s hard to call these pre-season tournaments an actual trophy, but it will still be a nice confidence boost for the players as we head into what is sure to be a hugely competitive 2015/16 season.
We were still faced with Premier League competition, and we brushed them aside with relative ease – despite a somewhat depleted squad.
It’s always nice to see your team lifting a trophy, no matter how insignificant of a cup it is.

We’ve made a habit of winning trophies recently, with two FA Cups and a Community Shield in the last two seasons. Picking up the Emirates Cup and the Community Sheild (again) in pre-season would continue that trend, and would put us in confident mood for the season ahead.

We are sure to come up against far stiffer competition once the campaign begins, but there are plenty of positives we can take from our win over Everton.
