Arsenal defender Gabriel took advantage of his free time by visiting his former side Villarreal as they took on Cordoba in La Liga on Sunday.
Gabriel, who moved to the Emirates Stadium in January for a fee believed to be around £11.2m (via BBC Sport), was given an emotional send off before his arrival in north London.
Integral to one of La Liga’s best defensive sides, the Brazilian has given us some much needed cover in a position where we were left short at the start of the season.

Arsene Wenger decided to enter a gruelling season with just two recognised central defenders which meant the likes of Nacho Monreal and Mathieu Debuchy filling in centrally.

Following Per Mertesacker’s injury, Gabriel was introduced early on in the second half against Reading, but struggled to adjust to the pace of the game. In fairness to the 24-year-old, he hasn’t featured since the game at St James’s Park last month and needs some match fitness to build on the positive signs he showed in his first few appearances
