Arsenal midfielder Gedion Zelalem seems like a man on mission for the development squads at the moment, and after a successful tournament in South Africa in the Durban Under-19 International Cup, the 18-year-old is now strutting his stuff for the U-21s.
In our latest fixture against Fulham’s U-21 side, Zelalem netted the winner by scoring a goal with all the hallmarks of an ‘Arsene Wenger goal’.
The United States international picked up the ball midway inside Fulham’s half and played three one-twos before slotting the ball past the goalkeeper with a clever finish.
Zelalem was included by Arsene Wenger in the squad which travelled to Singapore on our pre-season tour, but his absence from the Emirates Cup squad suggested that first team opportunities may not be forthcoming this season.
