Olivier Giroud scored a superb goal for France against Cameroon this past Monday night, stroking home a fantastic cross from Paul Pogba.

Giroud gets a lot of stick from both Arsenal and France fans, some of it deserved, some of it not. But few can criticise him after this goal, with the French forward meeting Pogba’s cross perfectly to place it into the back of the net.

The target-man does a decent job for Arsenal, but we unquestionably need a better option up front. We’re hoping to see Arsene Wenger open his chequebook and make a big name signing this summer, but France obviously don’t have that option ahead of the Euro 2016 Championships.

Arsenal transfer news
With Karim Benzema left out of the squad, Giroud will pretty much be leading the line for the hosts. Despite a poor record in recent times, France are among the favourites for the upcoming tournament. If they are to stand any chance of winning the trophy then Giroud will play a major part, and regardless of who we sign this summer, hopefully he comes back confident and ready for another season with Arsenal.
