Arsene Wenger is sticking with his policy of giving youth a chance, with Alex Iwobi and Chuba Akpom being given plenty of game time in our pre-season fixtures. The former started our first match of the Emirates Cup against Lyon, and he has certainly given Wenger something to think about with his performance.
The nephew of Jay-Jay Okocha was threatening down the left with his pace and trickery, but was unselfishly trying to set up his teammates – some of the time when he arguably should have shot himself.
When he did eventually take a shot it flew into the back of the net, his first-time finish capping a beautiful Arsenal counter-attack. The pace of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain helped carry the ball forward, with Mesut Özil and Aaron Ramsey linking up to set Iwobi for the strike.
Lyon shot-stopper Anthony Lopes could do nothing, and was beaten for the third time that game.

We are likely to see more of Iwobi this season after this fantastic performance, with the academy product hopefully set for a breakout season.
