Mesut Özil has unquestionably been our player of the season so far, and is showing his credentials once again against Bournemouth. The German playmaker assisted Gabriel Paulista for the opening goal, and then grabbing a goal of his own in the second half.
After firing in a corner for the Brazilian to head in from close range, Mesut Özil slowly began to dominate the game more and more. He added a goal to his assist shortly into the second half too, combining superbly with Olivier Giroud before beating Artur Boruc.
The former Real Madrid man played a clever one-two with the Frenchman, who utilised his vintage outside of the boot flick round the corner to put Özil through on goal. The 27-year-old remained calm despite the tight angle, finishing coolly past the Cherries shot-stopper.
We badly needed a win to put the very recent memory of our 4-0 loss against Southampton behind us, and at 2-0 up with not long to go it looks as though we’re going to get it.
