Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere told our official Youtube channel that the Carling Cup final defeat to Birmingham City in 2011 was the worst moment of his Gunners career.
In his breakthrough season as a first team player, Wilshere was arguably the best player on the pitch on that night and his emotional expression at full-time became a defining image.
After dominating possession for large parts of the game, a costly error involving Laurent Koscielny and Wojciech Szczesny allowed Obafemi Martins to tap into an empty net at the death.

“That was easily the worst day of my career as an Arsenal player,” Wilshere confessed in the latest episode of Arsenal Albums.
Wilshere, as expected, has transformed into a key player since that game – despite his obvious lack of luck with injuries. The midfielder proved in the final few months of last season that he can lead his club and country to glory over the next few years.
