Lukas Podolski was presented to the media as a Galatasaray player on Saturday afternoon and after penning his new contract, the German signed off the presentation by sipping some Turkish tea, known to the natives as çay (Chai).
After spending the second half of last season on loan at Inter Milan, Podolski has now left on a permanent basis in a deal worth an initial £1.8m (via BBC Sport).
The 30-year-old has also penned a three-year-deal with the Turkish champions, as BBC Sport reports, ending his three-year stay with us.
When we signed Podolski from FC Koln, his pedigree, coupled with his resume, meant that many believed that the foundations were there for him to succeed.

Just like he was at Bayern, questions emerged as to whether or not he had the temperament to succeed at a top European club. Arsene Wenger clearly lost patience with Podolski and seeing a way back for him after being sent out on loan in January was rather difficult.
Such was his ineffectiveness, we don’t necessarily need to replace the German – as good as his left foot was.
