Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski has finally left to join Galatasaray and despite his recent absence from the team, the German has treated us to some sensational moments over the past few years.

The euphoria which surrounded his arrival was palpable. In theory, signing a player with Podolski’s resume should turn out to be an instant success.
A player close to 100 caps for Germany at the time – despite only being 26 – Podolski is now the third highest goalscorer in his nation’s history.

5) Podolski’s first goal – vs Liverpool
Trying to the fill the boots of Robin van Persie was always going to be difficult, especially when the Dutchman netted 37 times in the previous campaign.
However, after we failed to score in our opening two games, Podolski proved that he had a left foot which matched his predecessor with a lethal finish past Pepe Reina.
It would become a sight Arsenal fans would get used to.
