Wojciech Szczesny may be on loan with Roma at the moment, but he’s still unquestionably an Arsenal fan. He was among the first to leap onto social media to celebrate our victory over Aston Villa and Tottenham’s phenomenal loss against Newcastle, mocking our north London rivals for letting second spot slip.
He began singing the popular St Totteringham’s Day chant, cutting off before the end to let the fans finish themselves.

Beating Aston Villa seemed like a given really, with the relegated side looking incredibly poor this season. Our 4-0 win was therefore not a huge shock, even if we left it pretty late to get the second goal that really sealed the win. It seemed incredibly unlikely that Newcastle – also relegated already – would get a win over Tottenham though, with the Magpies having nothing but pride to play for.

They got the unlikely result in real style though, with the ten men of Newcastle running out surprising 5-1 victors – three of those goals coming after they went down a man.

Despite being sent out on loan, Szczesny is still popular among Arsenal fans. Many hope he’ll return next season to deputise for Petr Cech, with David Ospina really not impressing many. It’s unclear whether he’d be happy with a place on the bench, but he could certainly learn a lot from Cech.
