Mesut Özil has broken a phenomenal record with his assist against Tottenham, and is now the first player to register an assist in six consecutive games in a single season.
The German playmaker has been in fine form this season, and has even looked good when the rest of the team are underperforming. He’s proven that he really is a player for the big games, and has been assisting with regularity in recent weeks.
His far post cross for Kieran Gibbs’ goal against Tottenham this past Sunday afternoon was his sixth consecutive game with an assist to his name, and has broken the Premier League record.

Cesc Fabregas has arguably broken the record before, but the Spaniard didn’t manage it in a single season. His six games involved a couple from his spell at Arsenal and a few when he joined Chelsea – with the two Premier League stints coming several years apart.
Özil has also shown no signs of slowing down, and with some easily winnable games coming up after the international break he may well continue in this trend.
