It’s goalless at half-time in our game against Southampton, but there have been a handful of chances for both sides. Two of the best chances of the game so far fell to Mesut Özil, but the German playmaker was unfortunately unable to convert them.
One particular chance saw the World Cup winner pluck a superb over the top ball from Alexis Sanchez out of the air like it was nothing, practically stopping the ball dead in the Southampton box. He looked to catch Fraser Forster out by quickly sneaking the ball between his legs, but the Saints’ shot-stopper managed to get a boot on it.
Check out the incident below:
The other major chance came through an Olivier Giroud knock down, with Özil anticipating the move well and making the perfect run. He got his toe on the ball and it looked destined for goal, but Forster again denied the former Real Madrid man – although he knew very little about the stop.

Alexis and Özil haven’t had much of a chance to play together this season, with the Chilean spending much of the campaign on the sidelines with an injury. They are already linking up well and looking to make things happen though, and they look like they’ll be having a say in whatever happens at the Emirates this Tuesday night.
