Before this summer, Petr Cech made the same journey for 11 years as Chelsea prepared for each home game and our 33-year-old shot-stopper almost repeated the tour ahead of his return to Stamford Bridge.
Cech was seen coming off our team coach on Saturday and instead of heading down the tunnel which leads towards the away dressing room, he made a brief detour and instantly stopped himself.
Just like Robin van Persie experienced upon his first return to the Emirates Stadium following his move to Manchester United, old habits seem to die hard for footballers sometimes.
It wasn’t a happy return for Cech as we suffered a 2-0 defeat to Jose Mourinho’s men once again in what was a feisty affair. We found ourselves down to nine men as Gabriel and Santi Cazorla saw red due to very different circumstances.
