Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has warned Arsenal to keep hold of Jack Wilshere or risk causing a riot among fans given his ties to the club, the former defender said on his #5 Magazine channel.
Wilshere is reportedly interesting Manchester City as Manuel Pellegrini’s side seek homegrown talent to fill their quota (via The Independent), but Ferdinand believes that the 23-year-old’s departure is unthinkable.
Despite playing for a number of Premier League clubs during his impressive career, Ferdinand clearly understands the bond a player shares with his fans once he’s come through the system at the club.
Arsenal transfer news
“Arsenal can’t sell him,” Ferdinand stated on his channel.
“They can’t sell him. That’s ‘Mr Arsenal’ right there.

“He’s Arsenal. He’s living and breathing Arsenal and he has said it already on social media and TV, he don’t wanna leave.
“The fans would pull the place down.”
Ferdinand’s thoughts are probably shared by every Arsenal fan around the world such is the connection we have with Wilshere. In an era of footballers becoming increasingly detached from the average fan, our academy graduate doesn’t conform to that narrative.
He’s potentially a one-club man and we should do everything in our power to make sure Wilshere remains with us for his entire career.
