It was a bad day for Wojciech Szczesny as he trained with his Poland teammates earlier this week.
Arsenal transfer news
The Arsenal goalkeeper was nutmegged not once, but twice during a ball retention exercise, and subsequently removed himself from the training session with an embarrassed smile across his face.
It was a difficult moment that followed a difficult season for our former number one, who sat out much of the second-half of last season on the bench, with Arsene Wenger preferring David Ospina for league matches.
Szczesny did at least get to start our FA Cup final victory over Aston Villa last month, having missed out on the previous year’s final, when it was Lukasz Fabianski who instead got the nod between the posts.
Things are unlikely to get any easier for the 25-year-old next season, with Petr Cech’s imminent arrival from Chelsea (via the Daily Mail), likely to drop him even further down our pecking order.
