The 31-year-old has been heavily linked with the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham recently, with the Gunners looking the favorites to land the star striker. He could potentially be the difference between winning a Cup for Arsene Wenger’s side (who are currently paying a hefty 7.2 to win the FA Cup if you are looking to do some football betting online).
The Gunners are in desperate need for a top drawer striker to compete with Olivier Giroud, and Villa has emerged as a real possibility over the past six-seven months.
While Spain’s all time scorer has admitted he is happy at Barcelona, he will reassess his situation this summer, consequently pricking the ears of Arsenal fans once again.
According to ESPN he told reporters in Brazil:
I have a contract and I have always said that I’m very happy at Barcelona.
Throughout my career, I have always been respectful of my current club. Right now, I’m just thinking about doing a good job in Brazil – and then we will see.
The report also claimed the forward said he needed to “analyse many things” over the summer, but that he was “not thinking of anything else other than playing football for Spain”.

At 31-years-old his age is a big issue. He would be an impact signing but hardly a long term solution. The other star strikers that have been linked seem like smarter options such as Higuain or Jovetic as they are far younger but still have the footballing ability – especially the Argentine.
While I was excited about the possibility of signing Villa in January, there are other opportunities Wenger should take instead of the Spaniard. But in saying that he is still very fit and agile with plenty of quality. If the Gunners can acquire him on the cheap then he could help improve the squad depth – but he is not the solution to our issues and should be supplemented with another big name, younger striker. However this isn’t FIFA – it’s all up to Wenger.
